L. Girard Portrait Sofa

Liliane Girard

My name is Liliane Girard, I am French, born in 1945 near Paris. I live in Friborg since March 2017, a city whose charm and elegance I appreciated from my first visit. Despite my Parkinson’s disease, I am always looking for new techniques and new materials for my paintings.

It was only later, through self-study, that I discovered the art of painting. Although I’ve always loved drawing so much that I envisioned a career as a stylist.

Despite my work as a translator, I always found the time to draw portraits, which I always loved to give away.

Always curious to discover and apply new techniques and materials, I never stop reworking my „never finished“ paintings. My paintings always show new characters or landscapes that encourage everyone to dive into their own dreamlike world.

In my paintings there are very often faces, masks and characters, which seem to be sketched as props with their fluid forms. They dance or float and often have different faces, depending on who and where you are looking at them. So they are both fantastic and real.

My passion for all colors is reflected in my paintings. I like warm colors, like the red and yellow tones that are often present, often combined with black and white effects, or the blue of my dream worlds.

I keep wanting to discover new techniques, which explains why for me a painting is never „finished“. It happens very often that a painting that was in fact already exhibited and „finished“ is reworked, thus obtaining a whole new face.

Of course, you could say the paintings are abstract works of art, but with this description you underestimate and overlook the ubiquitous dream world that is within your reach.

I always try to express my passion, the joy of living and also to reflect this power in my paintings.

Kind regards yours

Liliane Girard
